Thermometer

minmax Prepare a thermometer which can measure the air temperature. It is recommended to use digital min-max thermometer for better recognition and to know the minimum and maximum temperature appeard. Those type of thermometer can measure temperature by probes lead from the body so you will be able to measure the direct temperature where iguanas usually settle.

Tip : Use a thermometer which can record minimum and maximum temperature

Iguanas are lizards whos origins are tropical to semi-tropical. Don't forget this. They should be kept in a environment between 25 degrees to 40 degrees(Celsius. All temperature data below this are described in Celsius).
The most important point you should consider is, the minimum temperature in winter and the maximum temperature in summer. Minimum temperature usually occur early in the morning, just befor sunrise, so I think you will find it very convenient of using min-max recordable thermometer. If this is your first winter living with your iguana, pay a special attention to the thermometer. It is recommended to check and reset the thermoneter everyday.
If your thermostat is working but minimum temperature is lower than 25 degrees, you should add some more heaters. Especially, juveniles should be kept in a environment over 27 degrees.
If you are living in a hot country and if you set the glass cage near the window facing south, this situation may be extremely dangerous. The air temperature may raise over 40 to 50 degrees. It is said that iguanas will die if their body temperature gets above 46 degrees. So, it is best to think 40 degrees is the maximum temperature for iguana's environment. Iguanas living in natural habitat can bask in the sun, get into the shade or dive into the river to control their body temperature. But in artificial environment, they usually don't have a place to escape from heat.
Use an acrylic punch-board to make the air flow or use fan or airconditioner.

Winter : Don't freeze your iguana. Night temperature must be over 25(C) deg.
Summer : Don't cook your iguana. Day temperature must be below 40(C) deg.
